Q: What is the cost of each document?
A: The price of each document is shown on our document list page, and range from $10 to $45 depending on the complexity of the document. These prices are in New Zealand dollars and include Goods and Services Tax (GST).
We will accept payment for the service by the major credit cards, subject to acceptance of card details.
Q: How do I use these documents - do I need legal advice as well?
A: Yes. We do not provide legal advice.
The basis on which you buy or use any HowToLaw document is that it is suitable to be used together with legal advice as to how the document should be applied and adapted to your specific circumstances.

Q: What formats are the documents in?
A: You are able to download HowToLaw documents as Rich Text Format document files. Rich Text Format is a standard format and can be opened in any of the major office software products such as
Microsoft Word, WordPerfect, Lotus AmiPro, Sun StarOffice and Microsoft WordPad.
Q: How do I receive the documents?
A: Once your credit card details are approved, you will see a confirmation page with a download button. When you click on this button
a dialog box will appear on your screen. Click on "Save".
![]() This will open a "save as" dialog box. You may rename the file (e.g. your_file_name.doc) and/or choose a different folder to save it in. Then click Save.
This process has been tested on all the leading Windows browser programs. There may be some slight delay before
these pages display. Do not close the current window if this is the case - be patient. If you do
experience problems, please contact us.
Q: What if I am unable to read the document that I just downloaded?
A: First, try to download the same document again in case the first transmission was interrupted. If the document is still not readable contact us and enter a description of the problem.
Q: What if my internet connection was broken before I was able to download my document?
A: Firstly do not close your web browser or click the back button. Try to re-connect to the internet and click again to the words 'click here to download document'.
If you are still unable to download, or the connection is broken immediately after payment and
the download page does not appear at all, please contact us.
After verifying your transaction details, we will e-mail the document to you.
Q: What if a document of interest to me is not on HowToLaw?
A: We welcome input. Contact us with a description of the document you would like to see added to HowToLaw. However, we cannot make any guarantee that the requested document will be posted on the site.
Q: How any times am I allowed to use each document?
A: Buying a HowToLaw document gives you a non-exclusive licence to use the document. This licence allows you or any member of your immediate family to copy and use the document, once or more than once, in relation to any matter in which you or immediate family members are personally involved. You may not use the document for any commercial purpose, and you may not resell the document.
Q: How secure are my credit card details?
A: HowToLaw uses the ANZ Bank's eGate® Hosted Payments system to process credit card payments from you. All credit card transactions conducted from this website are carried out over a secure link to ensure that your credit card details remain safe. (eGate® is the trade mark of the Australian and New Zealand Banking Group Limited).
Q: What do I do if I have a complaint?
A: If you have any complaint about this HowToLaw service or any document you have bought through this service,
please contact us. If you are not satisfied, for any reason, with a document that you bought through this HowToLaw service, HowToLaw will provide you with a full refund, so long as you request this refund no more than two days after you download the document.
